Gela Mikava’s Pieta (2019), an oil painting on canvas, was included in Pietà: A Mother’s Lament at the University of Dayton. The work was presented courtesy of the Sacred Art Pilgrim Collection.

Organized by the Marian Library, the group exhibition brought together 40 modern works made between 1912 and 2024. It explored interpretations of Mary holding the body of Jesus after the crucifixion, with works on loan from John A. Kohan’s Sacred Art Pilgrim Collection alongside selections from the Marian Library’s Art and Artifacts Collection.

The exhibition ran from 4 March to 9 May 2025 in the Stuart and Mimi Rose Gallery on the first floor of Roesch Library.
